Goodbye to you…and hello again?
NICHOLAS BRENDON
April 12, 1971 - March 20, 2026
Hello to you all,
Nicky always personally wrote the opening note to these letters and filled them with love, humor, maybe an anecdote or a tall tale, and no shortage of flourish — so let this one open with love, at least, even as the words come harder than they used to.
On March 20th, Nicky passed away. We know many of you are grieving alongside us, and we’re grateful beyond words for this community he built — the one he never stopped being amazed by. Below you’ll find the statement his family shared in the days after, along with an invitation to some of what’s still ahead.
Because Nicky enjoyed sharing all of his creative work and has an archive that stretches years and includes many favorites as well as some never before seen (or heard) work, his family remains committed to sharing that creativity with all of you.
The NickyBrendon.com website will showcase his poetry, prose, photography, and paintings to enjoy. Additional gems such as rare interviews, early commercials, acting resume, auditions, publicity photos, and more will be added as well.
Some of his original paintings are being kept by family and close friends as keepsakes, but the rest will be made available soon along with prints and merchandise.
We miss him every single day and there is sometimes such a big hole that Nicky used to fill with art, laughter, and music. But we are so lucky to be surrounded by a vast legacy that ensures we never forget.
Please read on for more information and upcoming important dates.
Family Statement on Nicky’s Passing
(March 20, 2026)
We are heartbroken to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed in his sleep of natural causes.
Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he brought to life over the years. In recent years Nicky has found his passion in painting and art. Nicky loved to share his enthusiastic talent with his family, friends and fans.
He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create. Those who truly knew him understood that his art was one of the purest reflections of who he was.
Our family asks for privacy during this time as we grieve his loss and celebrate the life of a man who lived with intensity, imagination, and heart.
Thank you to everyone who has shown love and support.

“BEGIN”
“BEGIN”
A Poem by Nicholas Brendon
You begin to be; you breathe with ease
Your twin has ceased to be
The efforts increased, but he’s deceased
Time of death? Four twenty-three
They hand your parents a piece of paper
The end for the twin that would never be
How does one begin when one of two’s life has come to an end?
Let’s discuss that question herein; wherein you are never whole
(You have no idea of the peace you just lost)
The sever so severe, you don’t know one year from another year
Half of you is somewhere you could never begin to ever know
(Light years. Fight the good fight bro, no matter the cost)
Time to begin, I chagrin and imbue color where there was none
Find someone, even if only in the short run
To begin what should have begun when I lost a twin brother
And my parents lost a son
I looked for peers, but it appears that my peer disappeared
Life appeared sincerely insincere
What is a win when you’ve lost a twin?
Start anew. Begin again
Begin again and do it for him; a win is a win and I grin
For the first time in what seems like a lifetime, I begin with only a grin
My friend let me know that the grin was becoming a smile
All the while I still had pain, but the pain must start to wane…eventually
